What is LASIK
What is LASIK?
Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis LASIK is a laser eye surgery intended to reduce a person’s dependency on his glasses or contact lenses. LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis and is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea, at the front of the eye, using excimer laser. Basically, it involves lifting a superficial flap from the cornea, which is the transparent tissue in front of the colored iris and pupil. An extra-precision laser is then applied to the undersurface of the flap to modify the cornea exactly according to your degree of error. The flap is then reposited in place with no need to sutures. Applying the laser beam under the flap offers an excellent opportunity to regain comfortable good vision few hours after the procedure.
